I have been an English teacher since 2012 and am interested in English teaching and curricula, educational inequality, education development and improving teaching and learning in schools.
I studied English Language and Literature at Oxford University, where I was elected Access and Bursaries officer for Trinity College. I trained as a teacher with Teach First (and Canterbury Christ Church University). I have an MA in Education Leadership from the UCL Institute of Education. My dissertation focused on how heads of English in high performing schools improve the quality of teaching learning in their departments.
I have worked as the deputy head of English in two schools in Lewisham and Southwark, South London. I have also worked as a media assistant at the London Connected Learning Centre and spent time volunteering in schools in Tanzania and Vanuatu. I am currently based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
